audi tt

The Audi TT is a sports car produced by German automaker Audi since 1998 in Győr , Hungary . There are two generations of the TT, both transverse front engine and available with body coupe and convertible two-door front-wheel drive or four wheels. The first generation TT and the current configuration with 2 +2 seats
The TT was first shown as a prototype at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1995. The design is credited to J Mays and Freeman Thomas of California design studio owned by Volkswagen , with Martin Smith contributing interior design which won awards. The name does not indicate twin turbo TT (“biturbo”), but is a reference to the Tourist Trophy .
TT's styling is regarded by many as a key moment in automotive design . Since its introduction as a prototype in 1995, and as a production car in 1998, the design was seen as bold, innovative and revolutionary. While the car borrowed some design elements from earlier vehicles, the overall design was considered by many to be truly unique. Despite its soft curves as attractive, aerodynamic design does not lead to revolutionary (the drag coefficient of the body was actually a relatively high, 0.35). But with its distinctive design, rounded body, great use of anodized aluminum exposure and lack of defined bumpers, the TT represents a departure from much of the styling that dominated the automotive market at the time.
The production model (internal designation Typ 8N) was launched coupe body in September 1998, followed by the convertible in August 1999 based on the Volkswagen A platform used in the Volkswagen Golf , Skoda Octavia and others. The differences with the prototype are the bumpers and the addition of rear quarter windows behind the doors. Was first made available with a 1.8-liter petrol engine with four cylinders, turbocharger and 20 valves. During the first two years of production, both as a front-drive models feature the quattro had as a version of 180 hp (132 kW) of this engine. In 1999, he launched a more powerful quattro model, which was equipped with an engine of 225 hp (165 kW) that shares the same basic design but with a larger turbocharger, an intercooler added to the driver's side, forged connecting rods, dual exhaust and some other internal adjustments designed to withstand increased turbo boost of 10 psi to 15 psi.
All TT models were called for review in late 1999 and early 2000 following concerns about the handling of the car, which was considered unstable in high speed turns as a result of oversteer and acceleration (there were several amendments, which were subsequently incorporated on all future models, were put spoilers (to reduce the uprising) and configuration of the suspension modified (to increase understeer ). The offer of the original four-cylinder engine was complemented with a 3.2L VR6 engine 250 hp ( 184 kW) at the beginning of 2003, which comes with the quattro AWD system. In October 2004 opened a new transmission called DSG (dual clutch ), which improves acceleration by a drastic reduction in time for the shifting.
